Narcotic drug related cases and its peddling in the city

 

Shillong, July 8: As part of the Safe Secure Campaign and make the youth the assets of the society the East Khasi Hills district Police in collabration with Synod College Shillong organised an awareness programme at Dinam Hall Jaiaw on Monday.

The awareness programme aimed at highlighting the ill effects of chewing of tobacco, smoking, consumption of alcohol and drugs on the physical and mental health of human being especially teens.

Highlighting on the topic SP City Vivek Syiem gave an account of the of rising rate of narcotic drug related cases and its peddling in the city.

Expressing concern that such rising number of narcotic and drug related can hamper the student community and the society as a whole syiem said that stringent measures should be taken to prevent such menace from the society.

Besides, Inspector IS Marak in charge of Lumdiengjri Police Station while highlighting on the need to be aware about traffic rules urged upon the youth to abide by the traffic rules and most importanly to abstain onself from drunken driving.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District encourage the students to abide by the law and refrain from the use of drugs.(SP News)
