Shillong, April 28: The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited a government of India Undertaking will take the of apprehending the Ministry of Power Government of India if the government of Meghalaya fail to pay the electricity bills as per the agreement sign on the 12.11.2012 in the meeting in Delhi.
The Agreement sign between the NEEPCO and the MeECL on the direction of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. In the meeting the NEEPCO has allowed the MeECL to pay the outstanding dues in twenty four installments which the MeECL paid the first installment Rs.50 cores on the 07.02.2013 from there onwards the MeECL did not comply to their agreement.
If the Government of Meghalaya or the MeECL fail to pay the dues to the NEEPCO, they have no alternative but to approach the ministry of Power government of India to ask the central government that fund which meant for the state of Meghalaya, the Ministry of Power should divert it to the NEEPCO.
Sources told SP News Agency that in spite of the Power cut that NEEPCO has taken there is no official communication form the Government of Meghalaya till today. The NEEPCO has take the decision to cut power supply to Meghalaya on the 25th of this month.(SP News)
