Shillong, Dec 09: The NEHU student’s Union has appealed to the NGOs who called the 36 hours bandh on 10 and 11 December and office picketing on 13th of December to exempt North Eastern Hill University from the purview of the agitation because the university is holding the ongoing end semester examination which will continue till the 20th of this month.
The NEHU student’s Union also said in the press communique that due to the bandh on 10th and 11th December 2013 exams have been postponed which had severely affected
the students. In this regard the Union requested the NGOs for their consideration of this appeal so that the examination can be conducted smoothly.
Intensifying its stir the pro-ILP ngos who are demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya has called for a thirty six hours bandh in Khasi, Jainitia , Ri Bhoi except in Garo hills districts from 5 am of December 10 to 5 pm on December 11.
In the five districts of Garo hills, the ngos have decided to call for ten hours road blockade has been announced which will start from 8 pm to 5 am on 10 and 11 December.
The bandh and road blockade will be followed by statewide office picketing on December 13. (SP News)
