No one should jump to conclusion that submission of every theses will lead to a PhD degree

SHILLONG, 27 JULY: Following media reports that the State CID sleuths on Friday seized over four thousand allegedly fake PhD theses during a raid on the CMJ University office in the city, advocate Meghalaya high court, SP Sharma for the public interest has clarified that most of these thesis are neither final in scope or nature.

In a press conference held at the Shillong Press Club today, SP Sharma said that many theses are returned to the students for rectification and modification in case of errors.

“Therefore, to selectively pick some theses to show mistakes and create a media circus while moving them out of the university building is dismaying to say the least,” Sharma said.

The advocate further clarified that the submission of theses is only one step towards attaining PhD degree and therefore no one should jump to the erroneous conclusion that submission of every theses will lead to a PhD degree.

Surprised with the act carried out by the police, the advocate commented saying, “Why and how the police have taken nearly 3 months to find these PhD theses. The fact is that the police have been making a list of the PhD theses which are kept in the library of the university campus for the last several months now.”

“Why they have selected to disclose their finding as a major breakthrough at this juncture? This is nothing but desperate ploy by the police to keep the controversy ‘alive’ and mislead in an attempt to create doubt and suspicion in the minds of people and unfairly influence the decision makers,” the advocate added.(SP News)
