Guwahati, Feb 28:”BJP is not just a political party, but today it has become like a music for the country and the music will ring in the ears of people for years to come” said noted Assamese singer Jitul Sonowal, after he joined the party.
Today at the Assam state BJP headquarters, in Guwahati, a group of new faces from various backgrounds including senior journalist, social activist, Politicians, Musicians and NGO workers, have been welcomed to the party by Sarbananda Sonowal, President, Assam state BJP.The new comers had briefed about their interests for joining the party in front of a small gathering amidst media people.
Narendra Modi, had just visited Assam and had addressed two public rallies , and today,s joining is no less than Modi,s charm besides the Party,s ideology that had attracted these new leaders. “I think after MODI had visited the state there is much energy in our party workers and today,s joining is also a reflection of Modi,s visit” said Sarbananda Sonowal, who was once a party leader of the ASSAM GANA PARISHAD before switching to the National Party.
Jitul Sonowal, once the heartthrob singer of the state and known for his deep melodic voice,described the BJP in his own musical language as “BJP is a music”. He said that while he was staying in Bombay for his works is his early career, he had somehow heard that senior BJP leader, L K ADVANI, had asked various media oganisations in Mumbai to give chance to the talented people coming from the North East, so that a bridge can be built between the mainland India and the North East. After hearing this the Artist had developed a great respect for both the leader and the party, and as result he finally joined the BJP, a party he had admired long time back.
Today while addressing a few words to the media after being welcomed to the party, the artist, sang a Song of Late Bhupen Hazarika,s composition, ” Meghe gir gir Kore” and said that today BJP is just like a music for the country.
Jitu Sonowal, in the early 90,s created ripples in the state through his melodious voice in modern Assamese music in the early nineties which has become evergreen to the ears of the people.Among the renown face,joining the BJP today was editor, Adip Kumar Phookan.(SP News)
