Shillong, July 19: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Public Health Engineering, Prof. R. C. Laloo today inaugurated the newly constructed Office Building of the Sub Divisional Officer, PHE, Mawsynram Sub Division, Mawsynram in the presence of Mr. Comingone Ymbon, Parliamentary Secretary, Soil and Water Conservation Department, Mr. P. N. Syiem, local MLA and CEM, KHADC, Mr. M. Allya, Additional Chief Engineer , PHE, Zone-III, students and local people of Mawsynram and its adjoining areas at a simple function held at St. Francis Higher Secondary School Hall, Mawsynram.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Laloo said the office was set up for the purpose of public convenience and better execution of Rural Water Supply Programmes and Sanitation in the Mawsynram Sub Division of PHE.
With the opening of this Office Building at Mawsynram, Prof. Laloo stressed that the department can effectively supervise, inspect, monitor, operate and maintain schemes in the whole of Mawsynram and part of Mawphlang Community and Rural Development Block.
The Additional Chief Engineer, Mr. Allya informed that the Office Complex was constructed at a total cost of Rs.79.17 lakhs and the jurisdiction of the Office covered a total of 158 villages and 187 habitations under Mawsynram C&RD Block and 32 villages and 32 habitations under Mawphlang C&RD Block.(SP News)
