Williamnagar, July 19: The East Garo Hills police team along with the Swat and CoBRA raided the hideout of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) area commander Jimmy Momin at Bansamgre village which is 25 km from the headquarter District Williamnagar.
During the operation the GNLA cadre started firing at the police who where cordoning the area. The encounter started from 7.am and ended at 10.am in the morning today, during the encounter one Pilon M Sangma allies as Marcus Lance the Corporal of the outfit was killed.
From the site the police recovered huge arms and ammunition along with many incriminating documents relating with the function of the GNLA.
The arms and ammunition that was recoverd from the site include one AK-47 riffle with three magazine, 148 round of ammunition , one US .45 colt pistol with 17 round, Two grenade, two wireless set and five GNLA ID Cards from the slain militant. (SP News)
