Shillong, March 21: On 20th March 2013 at about 1700 hrs, on sustained efforts of field intelligence unit of BSF Tura, one trained hardcore GNLA cadre rank private soldier namely Dikki M Sangma @ Bandi (Age 25 Yrs) S/O Swopon Ch Momin R/O Vill-Rangdokram, Ps-Baghmara, Dist-South Garo Hills (Meghalaya) surrendered before BSF. As per preliminary questioning report, he joined GNLA in April 2011 and underwent Arms training at Durama hills East Garo Hills for six months. During training he learnt handling of AK series weapons, Pistol, INSAS, SLR, Grenade etc.
He was involved in many extortion activities in Kherapara, Barengapara, Chokpot, Garobadha. He is in possession of GNLA ID card bearing Army No. 111 date of issue 10/10/2011 and valid upto 10/10/2014 signed by C-In-C Sohan D Shira. A surrender ceremony was organized in presence of DIG SHQ BSF Tura and police officials at Dobasipara campus .BSF has been putting sincere efforts to bring the misguided youths of Garo Hills to the mainstream and earlier also two active cadres of GNLA have surrendered before BSF in March 2012.(SP News)
