Shillong, June 3: One month have elapsed, still the plight of the CMJ University students were left unatteded neither by the faculty nor the state government even after several attempts made by the students to approach the government to come up with a strong solution to the problems which have been haunting them for the past few months.
Concerned over the aggrieved and despaired students who have become victimized by the mal function of this university, the Khasi Student’s Union Central body is taking a step forward to find out an immediate solution to relieve them from the dire straits they were in.
Knowing the fact that the career of the students were affected as the university now has been de-affiliated, the Student body met with the management of the MLCU and find out if this university can accommodate some of the students.
“We have met with the management of the MLCU university and find out if it can accommodate the students on the different courses offered by the university,” KSU President Daniel Khyriem said.
Addressing media persons after the meeting with the CMJ students Khyriem also informed that the KSU has take up the matter very seriously and is trying to contact the Chief Minister as well as the education minister however they were unavailable.
It seems that the government is not interested to address the plight of the students, Khyriem said.
“We demanded that the government should address the issue immediately so that the future of the students wont be affected,” Khyriem added
Voicing their concern about their career , aggrieved students said that since their certificates have been declared invalid they would be in grave difficulties when it comes to finding jobs later in future.
“We are not concern about anything but we are very much concern with our future,” a student said.
Frustrated and angered by what had happen to them another student pointed out that even the governor is also responsible towards their plight.
“Being a visitor of the university should have come up with a complaint against the university long time back and not so suddenly like this”
Besides, they also said that even the government is responsible as it is the government who grant permission to set up this university however, now the government is remaining silent when it comes to this issue.
Terming that Shillong is the educational hub of the North east, students coming from different parts of the north eastern said, “We came here with an intention to get good quality education”
However, if such things happen it tarnished the image of the whole educational scenario of the state.
Meanwhile, the students urged upon the government to come up with a strong solution towards their plight.(SP News)
