Shillong, March 19: The District Magistrate, South West Khasi District Mawkyrwat has promulgated section 144 CrPC prohibited the overloading of all type of Vehicles including Bazar Buses and trucks in the entire District with immediate effect.
Section 144 CrPC has been promulgated in order to avoid the danger of the people at large and as well as the damages of roads and bridges.
It was also informed that vehicles especially trucks plying through South West Khasi Hills District would not be allowed to carry beyond the permissible as it was against the law and if any vehicles found which did not comply with the order imposed, action would be taken as per Motor vehicle Act 1988 and Damage to Public property Act 1984.(SP News)
