Shillong 26 JULY: On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas, the NCC Unit of St Anthony’s College organized a commemorative function on the death anniversary of war hero, Late Captain Keishing Clifford Nongrum who laid his life during the Indo-Pak war in Kargil in 1999 for the country in the college premises here on Friday.
In paying tribute to Late Captain Keishing Clifford Nongrum wreaths were laid by his parents, two brothers and other dignitaries present at the function.
Remembering the hero, Peter Keishing hoped the sacrifice of his son would inspire others to join the Army and serve the nation.
Meanwhile the Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps (NCC), North East Region RK Sharma urged the students to follow the footsteps of this war hero by being selfless and courageous.
“It is ok that one worships either a Bollywood star or a Hollywood star but if somebody worship the heroes who gives their lives for us in the border that is more worth,” said Major RK Sharma.
Captain Nongrum was a student of Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong who later graduated from St Anthony’s college in the year 1996 where he got through the UPSC examination in his first try and later joined the Army forces.(SP News)
