Shillong, August 23: The police of East Garo Hills after getting specific input about the presence of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) camp at the Durama Hills cordon the area and busted the camp.
Sources told SP News Agency that there is heavy exchange of firing between the militant group the GNLA and the police near the camp. In the encounter two GNLA cadres were shot death.
The police strongly belief that the commander in chief of the GNLA Sohan D Shira use the camp when ever he is in Garo Hills. From the camp the police recover huge quantity of arms and ammunition along with the all discriminating document.
Today the police has buster one of the major camp of the GNLA so far and this is a great blow to the militant outfit. The police belief that at the time of the encounter most the GNLA leaders escape from the camp into the thick forest.
The Director general of Police Mr PJP Haneman told SP News Agency that the police today has busted the major camp of the GNLA at the Durema Hills, he also confirm that one GNLA Militant was hot death and huge arms and ammunition recover from the site.
The DGP also said that since the police party are still on the site detail report of the incident are still awaited. He said that the others GNLA who was injured is yet to conform about the death of the injured militant. (SP News)
