pre-christmas celebration at MIMHANS

Shillong, Dec 20: Spreading the message of peace and happiness on the occasion of Christmas amongst the mentally challenged, the Meghalaya United Women’s Welfare Organisation (MUWWO) came forward to help the patients of Mental Health & Neurological Science (MIMHANS) by organising a pre-Christmas celebration on Thursday.

The pre-Christmas celebration set aside their mental agony and experience the joy, celebration and delight that predominate this festive season.

Singing and clapping along to the sound of music, a total of 75 patients with 29 females and 46 males admitted at MIMHANS participated joyfully at the celebration.

President of the MUWWO Aruna Biswa  while speaking at the occasion said, “The true spirit of Christmas is lending a helping hand to the people in need, instilling in them a sense of belongingness and giving them an impression that Christmas is not a season but rather it is a feeling”, President of the MUWWO Aruna Biswa stated.

It may be mentioned here that these patients who are being admitted in this institute either voluntarily or through a reception order from the court included those from Bihar, Bangladesh besides others which sometimes put the institute’s authority in great difficulty tracing their hometown and identities as these patients are unsure about their background.(SP News)
