Shillong, March 26: The president of the Civil society Women Organisation (CSWO) Smti Agnes Kharshiing was arrested today by the Meghalaya Police from her residence for trying to inter Main secretariat forcibly on the 20th of this month.
The Superintendent of police of the East Khasi Hills District said that they have arrested her base on the complain received form the Deputy secretary of the Secretariat Administration Department (SAD) E Lyngdoh at the Sardar Police Station .
On this particular day it was a no visitors day but she got agitated and she abused the police personal of the special branch who where in duties.
How ever the NGO’s leaders was released on bail in the evening by the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) C Dkhar. After getting bail, Smti Agens Kharshiing said that she did argue with the police who were in the gate for shouting the mother of the rape victim.
The NGO’ leader said that secretariat is a public place how can she be accused of trespassing, this is nothing but just to threaten NGO’s members from entering into secretariat. She also said if they arrest her what about thus people who accused in various scam she question.
During the day conglomerations of NGO’s met the home minister Smti Roshar Warjri and told her to look into the matters was a gross violation and abused of power.(SP News)
