Shillong, Aug 30: The CEM of KHADC PN Syiem along with the KHADC Chairman Fabian Lyngdoh laid the foundation stone for constructing the legislative Office building of the Council at the premises of the KHADC here on Thursday.
Soon after laying the foundation stone, the CEM also inaugurated the newly constructed auditorium.
It is a day to be remembered for the KHADC as on this day the CEM also launched the website of the monolith festival.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest Syiem said that with the construction of new legistive building it is hoped that the Council can function more effectively.
He also said that the council is trying its best effort to cater to the need as per the requirement of time.
Besides, Syiem said that with the completion of the building it expected that it will serve the people in the best possible way.
The building which will be constructed was funded under the 13th Finance Commission at the cost of Rs 4.74 crores.
Meanwhile, the auditorium was constructed at a cost of Rs 1 lakh 5 crore which is also funded under the 13th Finance Commission 2011-2012.
The programme was also attended by the Executive Members, MDCs, and staffs of the District Council.(SP News)
