Qualified but unemployed Grade IV candidates begin their indefinite hunger strike

Hunger strike at Student FiledShillong, April 9: Aggrieved qualified but unemployed Grade IV candidates under the banner of the Association of Qualified Grade-IV-2011, East Khasi Hills District staged an indefinite hunger strike begining from today due to non-compliance of the government to appoint all qualified candidates to the post.

The indefinite hunger strike was carried out at Student’s Field Jaiaw.

Informing reporters here on Tuesday, Asst. General Scretary of the Association of Qualified Grade-IV-2011, East Khasi Hills District, T Mylliempdah said that the hunger strike will be observed in order to force the government to respond to the demands put up by the association and that is to appoint all the qualified candidates in the grade IV post.

Mylliempdah also informed some of the members met with that the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills sanjay Goyal at his office chamber however, the DC could not come into any solution but instead pushed the responsibilty to the government.

“Everytime the government is giving a deaf ear towards our demand,’’ Mylliempdah said adding that until and unless the government will address their demands the association would continue with their hunger strike.

It may be mentioned here that out of the 331 qualified candidates in the merit list, so far only 122 candidates have got the appointment while there are another 209 candidates who are yet to get an appointment.

The government has denied appointment letter from the government citing reasons that all vacancies have been occupied by those candidates based on merits besides it was also told that their duration was lapse. (SP News)
