Qualified grade IV candidates of East Khasi Hills took a peaceful rally

Shillong, Jan 4: The qualified grade IV candidates under the banner of the Association of Qualified Grade-IV-2011, East Khasi Hills took  a peaceful rally from Mawkhar to Main Secretariat on Friday to express their resentment aganist the adamant attitude of the government in not responding to the demands put forward by the Association.

The peaceful rally was taken part by Grade IV candidates who qualified at the examination conducted by the District Selection Committee last year but have been denied appointment letter from the government citing reasons that all vacancies have been occupied by those candidates based on merits besides it was also told that their duration was lapse.

About hundred qualified Grade IV employees after carrying out the rally from Mawkhar gathered at the parking lot besides additional secretariat with placards in hand having slogans which expressed their disappointment on the present government who failled to take any steps in addressing their issue.

Speaking to reporters General Secretary of the Association Hughbert Sun informed that the rally was conducted with an aimed to press upon the government to response to their demands which includes appointment of all qualified candidates besides seeking that the employment should be clean and fair.

While seeking extension on the employment procedure so as to employ all qualified candidates Sun said, ” Earlier we have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary seeking extension of the employment duration”.(SP News)

He however, said that the association is still awaiting response from the government on the representation they have submitted.

Meanwhile, he also informed that amidst prohibition from the Deputy Commissioner  not to carry any rally, but the association carry forward with the rally without causing disruption to anyone.
