Shillong, Sept 21, 2013: The 10th Literary Award 2013 was held at U Soso Tham Auditorium today organized by the Raid Laban Sports, Social and Cultural Organization in collaboration with Government of Meghalaya under the theme “Education is not preparation for life, Education is life itself” wherein 288 meritorious students were felicitated.
The Award ceremony included physically handicapped, visually impaired, hearing impaired and drop-out students belonging to poor BPL families.
Sets of Laptop were also distributed to the topper students of 19th South Shillong Constituency in 12 different categories such as SSLC (boys and girls), HSSLC (boys and girls), BPL (boys and girls), ISC X, XII, CBSE X, XII, graduates and post graduates.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest FR Kharkongor, Secretary, Education Department, Government of Meghalaya congratulated the meritorious students for their achievement in different examinations said that the three As –Aspiration, Action and Achievement is needed for excellence and success is achieved by nurturing aspiration, and by investing time and effort in their studies.
Kharkongor further urged the students not only excel in professional fields but should be able to contribute to the society with their expertise in this competitive world of today.
“This felicitation ceremony will be a source of inspiration to the students’ community and will encourage them to march forward in life for their better future carrier,” Kharkongor added.
Shanbor Shullai, Deputy Speaker, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Government of Meghalaya and President of the organization grace the occasion along with host of dignitaries representing various schools and colleges.(SP News)
