Shillong, Dec 6: The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District in a press release issued informed the general public that the District Administration of Ri Bhoi District, under the chaiianship of the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Pooja Pandey, is in full preparing to host the Year of the Youth Arts and Culture Festival 2012-2013, which is christened as “KHAM SYON I JONG KHYNRAW SE PHI”. The Festival will be held at Nongpoh NSCA Playground at Paham Syiem and will be inaugurated on 10 December by Dr D.D Lapang, Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya and local MLA.
The programme scheduled to be held at this Arts Festival are traditional Sports including Marathon, singing, dancing, short play or skit on drug abuse, environment or culture and painting. Moreover, there will also be exhibition cum sale of ‘Green Products’ under the “Chief Minister Youth for Green Campaign 2012-2013”. There will also be many participants who will exhibit their crafts and skill of various traditional products including Ri Bhoi’s very own local cuisines which will also be on the menu at the festival. The festival will culminate on the 11″ of December, 2013 in the same venue where Dr C. Lyngdoh, Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Meghalaya and local MLA, Umsning will be the Chief Guest.
