Rock concert was held in campaigning against substance abuse and HIV infection

Shillong, Oct 5: Three hundred and fifty students from over 12 schools and colleges ran a 10km course in the city this morning with the aim of creating awareness among the youth on issues such as substance abuse and HIV Infection organized by Kripa Foundation.

150 girls and 200 boys started off from the Polo Grounds shouting Kripa’s slogan, “Together We Can!”

Loma Jyrwa while addressing the gathering as chief guest said, “Today the need of the hour is that our youth should act responsibly to ensure that our society is continuously progressing for good.”

One of the members of the organizing committee, Sherrarad Wallang expressed its gratitude for the cooperation from the community saying, “It only shows that unity does miracles.”

During the event an interaction session was also held between the members from Alcoholics Anonymous Foundation Group, the Helping Hands Narcotics Anonymous Group (HHNAG) with the students sharing their experiences with substance abuse.

The event also witnessed a rock concert by the Rock group Colors campaigning against substance abuse and HIV infection.(SP News)
