Rotary club of shillong organised the peace rally

Shillong Nov 14: Aiming at spreading wariness on the ill effects of tobacco as well as to educate the youth about smoking in public places and the abuse of tobacco products,  , in collaboration with the Leadership Training Programme (LTS) and Young Christian Students (YCS) the Rotary club of shillong organised the peace rally and awareness campaign on Wednesday.

It was also learnt that the major thrust of the rally was to sensitize the law enforcing authorities to implement the existing law of banning such usage in public domain, especially near educational institution.

The rally was actively participated by hundreds of school students from various schools across the city. with placards that cautions about the ill effect of smoking and consumption of tobacco.

The rally started from Don Bosco Square,Laitumkhrah and ended at Raj Bhavan where prizes were distributed to the winners of the slogan and poster competition on the theme “No To Tobacco”  by the Governor,R.S.Mooshahary.

Addressing the gathering the Governor RS.Mooshahary lauded the initiative taken by the rotary club and the student community in spreading awareness on tobacco and its ill effects. (SP News)
