SBI official rescued by Meghalaya police who was abducted by militant

Tura, June 18: Meghalaya police today rescued SBI official Arvind Kumar, who was abducted by suspected militants on Monday.

He was rescued from a village near Milliem, near Damalgre, about 18 km from here around 8 am.

Three suspected militants had abducted Kumar from Garobadha bridge at gunpoint, while he was on his way to Ampati along with his driver.

The driver was later released from Rangsakona on the same day.

Massive operation had continued for two consecutive days around Garobadha – Rangsakona area in South West and West Garo Hills.

Kumar had joined SBI as a probationary officer in 2008. He started his career as an assistant manager at Chandmari branch in Tura. He was promoted last year and was posted to Ampati as its branch manager. He hails from Bihta in Bihar.

Assistant General Manager, SBI (Garo hills division), Nixon Joseph has congratulated Meghalaya police for rescuing their officer.
