Shillong, June 29: Aiming at encouraging the student folks of Mawlai locality as a whole to work hard towards their goal especially when it comes to academics, the Seng Samla Mawlai Pyllun organised a felicaitation ceremony to felicitate the students from Mawlai for their excellence performances in the various examinations
Altogether, 37 students who excelled in their 10th and 12th examinations from various baords which included MBOSE, CBSE, and ICSE were felicitated.
They were handed over with a memento and a certificate as a mark of appreciation for their achievements.
Addressing the gathering Chieftain of Mylliem Syiemship, Latho Manik Syiem said that education is the most important aspect of one’s life, without which, life would be incomplete and knowledge would be limited.
“Education is a weapon against ignorance and it empowers one to strive ahead in life,” Syiem said while maintaining that education should go alongside ethics, a combination which can ensure a successful and a healthy lifestyle.
While, ruing the deteriorating moral values of the society in present day, the chieftain said that technology has ease the life of human to a great extend, however, this advanced age has somehow affected the life and outlook of the young people.
“The idea of aping the west has gained ground in our state, especially among our youth and this has contributed to the diminishing moral values in the society, an ethical outlook which should be kept intact with the passage of time,” Syiem said.
Meanwhile, the Chieftain of Mylliem Syiemship also donated Rs 10,000 to the Seng Samla Mawlai Pyllun while also urging them to continue with their endeavour to encourage the youth and uplift the society as a whole.(SP News)
