Shillong, August 16: On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, Shishu Shiksha Ghar a Children’s Home of Learning, celebrated the day with a series of activities and programmes.
H. Marwein, Social Education Organizer, SSA, Meghalaya graced the occation as chief guest along with A. Swer, State Secretary, W. Tariang, Special Officer ,officials from Meghalaya Bharat Scouts, officials from State Office SSA Department and representatives from Social Welfare Department too participated in the programme.
The children who participated were basically working children, slum and street children, school drop-outs and other under-privileged children along with the children from Girls Government Shelter Home, Social Welfare Department.
A day was also observed as the Annual Sports Day with different Sports activities being conducted to provide the under-privileged children freedom from their work and worries and enjoy their childhood to the fullest that are debarred of their childhood because they have to work to support their families.
