Shillong, April 18: NaCP legislator from Laban Constituency Sanbor Shullai was reelected as the Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly in an election which was held at the last day of the budget session.
Shullai winning the conest un opposed as the opposition did not filed any candidate for the post.
While delivering a congartulatory speech to Shullai for being re-elected as deputy speaker for the second time, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that Shullai’s re-election for the post reflects his acceptability to the members on the treasury as well as opposition.
United Democratic Party (UDP) president and former chief minister Donkupar Roy also showered praises on Shullai saying that he is a man who fights for the rights of the people. He also said that the deputy speaker will be a linkman between members of the ruling and the opposition benches on issues concerning development of the state.
