Shillong, November 14: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has sponsored A “Student Interactive Program” which held at ITA Machkhowa, Guwahati. The students attending the function are undergoing vocational training in various disciplines like Information Technology, BPO, Retail, Hospitality, Hair and Beauty Care.
Mr. U.K. Sangma, Secretary NEC, while addressing the student as the chief quest of the event he emphasized the need of such training programs in the changing economic scenario. Ms. Sherry Lalthangzo, Director (HRD&E) the Guest of Honour, encouraged the students and told them to make full use of the opportunities of this training program and develop skills which would be of great use to them in their professional life.
The students attending the function are undergoing vocational training in various disciplines like Information Technology, BPO, Retail, Hospitality, Hair and Beauty Care and UPSC coaching in various empanelled institutions namely NEITCO, Jettwings, Sling Shot Solutions and Third Eye Education.
The event was well attended by students from various states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura undergoing the training programs in various institutions. Later, a colourful cultural program was presented where students showcased the dance and culture of their respective states.
Since the North Eastern Council (NEC), with the headquarter in Shillong is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region, which consists of the eight States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
In the last thirty five years, NEC has been instrumental in setting in motion a new economic endeavor aimed at removing the basic handicaps that stood in the way of normal development. In keeping with this objective the North Eastern Council has taken up the noble task of training the unemployed youths of the region in job oriented vocations. (SP News)
