Shillong, March 28; After some of the demands of the lower primary teachers were granted by the government, the teachers serving under the sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the state took to the streets on Thursday seeking government’s redressal over their demands.
Hundreds of teachers under the banner Meghalaya SSA School Association marched in procession along the city streets with placard and banners that reads the demands.
Some of the demands include increasing their salary, regular and timely disbursing of salary,release of their pending salary besides regularization of their post as teachers.
It may be mentioned here that the SSA teachers serving in the state received an amount of Rs 6000 as their salary.
It may also be recalled that recently NPP legislator James Sangma has raised a question seeking the government intervention to hike their salary of the SSA teachers from 6000 rupees to 9000 rupees.
