Shillong, May 20: The attention of the State Government has been drawn to the incident that led to the death of Shri Balsan S. Marak while in judicial custody, an accused in the Tura Women PS Case No. 22(5)2014 under section 120 (B)/ 365/511 IPC on 20.05.2014. In this connection, the State Government has instituted an inquiry to be conducted by Shri P.W.Ingty, IAS, Commissioner of Division, Garo Hill Division to ascertain the circumstances of death through medical and other related evidences, both factual and circumstantial, the role of the police, if any, which could have led to the demise of Shri Balsan S. Marak while in judicial custody, keeping in mind some allegations made, or any other matter connected with the enquiry.
The enquiry is to be completed within a period of 30 (thirty) days.
The State Government takes this opportunity to appeal to all the citizens in Garo Hills to assist the law enforcing machinery in the dutiful discharge of its obligations, and to maintain peace and harmony in the area.(SP News)
