Shillong November 10: Local wine brewers of Shillong showcased their home made wine at the 10th Shillong Wine Festival organised by the forever young in collaboration with the Meghalaya Tourism Department and Horticulture Department at Crinoline Swimming Pool on Saturday.
The annual Wine festival was organized with an aimed to promote wine industry in the state. It may be mentioned here that earlier the Forever Young Chairman, Michael Syiem has expressed concern over the lack of interest of the State Government to legalize the Fruit Wines Industry in the state stating that the government is not taking a keen interest to set up this industry which has so many potentials.
But even with the lack of interest from the government side it seems Wine Brewing is familiar with the people of Shillong who showed their keen interest in making local wine. With years the festival is becoming more and more popular among the people of Shillong where even today the Swimming pool was crowded with wine tasters.
Varieties of homemade wine made out of local fruits which comprises of pineapple, mulberry, strawberry, peach, passion fruit, wild apples, plum, orange, ginger besides others were being displayed at the festival.
Meanwhile, local band Colours enlighten the spirit of the wine tasters and makers present at the venue with their medleys.(SP News)
