Shillong, Aug 28: The Achik Mother’s Association (AMA) expressed concern over the frequent disturbances in trade and commerce faced by the people of Tura due to some vested interest individuals who are trying to monopolize the trade and commerce.
Irked over the situation, AMA on Tuesday apprised the Chief Executing Officer (CEO), Tura Municipal Board regarding the various problems faced by the general denizens.
According to AMA President Jova C Marak it was informed that there were certain people in the guise of a registered society in Tura market have recently started to disturb the free trade in the local market by forcibly supplying vegetables at higher rate which instead of minimizing the price escalated the rates of common vegetables.
Further, Marak also informed that the act carried out by the so claimed society has brought in discomfort and inconveniences to the traders as well as to the customers
“It causes great inconvenience to the general public;” she said adding “Proper awareness is the need of the hour which needs to be regulated to these vendors to which we would like to suggest a scheme.”
Besides, she also informed that there is a shortage of man power in properly enforcing Municipal law in the city to which AMA members are ready to assist the department wherever necessary.
Meanwhile, AMA urged upon the village folks and volunteer to buy their goods at nominal price which could be fixed up in a joint meeting by Municipal.(SP News)
