Shillong, April 30: The actual cost for the Myntdu Leskha Hydel Power Project is under compila
tion, the cost that they have made is tentatively Rs. 1173.13 cores.
The Director(Generation) of the Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited (MePGCL) Mr Elias Lyngdoh said that that actual cost of the project is not yet known as the detail compilation is on.
The Detail Project Report was done by the MeSEB at that time and the clearance from the Central electricity authority (CEA) was given on march 1999 at the cost of Rs.363.08 Cores but due to many factors the project could only start on the year 2006 with the approval of the CEA at the escalation cost of Rs. 671.29 cores.
With the addition of another’s three unit in 2009 the escalation cost has risen to Rs.965.93 cores but the tentative cost till 2010 when the project was commission on the month of Feburary 2012 the cost is Rs.1173.13 Cores.
The time frame given for completion was for five years which is not possible for any company, but they could completed it in seven and a half years in spite of my hurdles faces by the MePGCL during the cause of construction of the peoject.
The Myntdu Leskha Hydel Power Project when fully completed in all stages the generation of power during lean season will be 10 MW and above. But the install capacity is 126 MW. The director said that many of the hydel project in India could not complete as early as the Myntdu Leskha Project. What appears in the press is not fact.(SP News)
