The All Assam Students Union today burnt the Indo-Bangla Land swap deal

 

Guwahati, August 12: The All Assam Students Union today burnt the Indo-Bangla Land swap deal, protesting against  it. The has been large protest in the state of Assam since the the the deal was made while  Indian Prime Minister,Dr. MONMOHAN SING visited Bangladesh in September,2012, and had signed  the deal.

Various organisations have opposed over handing of big chunk of land to Bangladesh through the Land deal. Tapan Gogoi, General secratary of the AASU said that they would continue to protest against  the deal, and today through out the state the AASU activist burnt the Indo- Bangla land Bill.

The bill, prepared to materialise the deal, was suppose to be introduced today in the Rajya . Once the bill becomes an act, India will transfer its 111 civilian enclaves on the Bangladesh side of the border to Bangladesh. In return, India will get 51 Bangladeshi civilian enclaves that are inside the Indian border.

The government earlier tried to introduce the bill in the budget session but failed to do so as two AGP MPs — Biren Baishya and Kumar Deepak Das — snatched the bill from the floor of the House.(SP News)
