Shillong, Aug 27: The Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC-B) is trying to garner more strength by recruitiang more cadres besides procuring new sophisticated arms.
According to the a press comunique issued by the Joint Secretary of ANVC-B, Rangdo R Marak, it was stated that the outfit even cautioned the state government on their recent activities.
Marak also informed that the militant outfit is procuring sophisticated weapons.
“They are now also procuring latest arms and weapons to operate in the region,” Marak asserted adding “The arms they are dealing with an arm supplier (Belbong). Belbong was earlier arrested by the police along with a woman couple of years before.”
Besides, Marak also revealed that ANVC cadre, Sasan is now actively extorting money from coal belts of garo Hills including Shallang, West Khasi Hills district and he is procuring arms from the extorted money.
While cautioning the government on their activities, Marak said that Unlike ANVC (B), the ANVC is getting a chance to rehabilitate it’s cadres through the settlement by enrolling them into police and availing various schemes,
Further, the ANVC-B also alleged that some ANVC cadres were actively involve in illegal activities.
Meanwhile, the ANVC-B leader also claimed that if not checked properly the present situation in Garo Hills would throw cold water on the peace initiatives.(SP News)
