The AWWA organized ‘Walk for Fun’ at Happy Valley

Shillong, August 23: The AWWA Week is currently being celebrated by its Shillong Chapter. As part of the festivities, several innovative and purposive events are being conducted. ‘Walk for Fun’ was one such event, organised at Happy Valley recently  Mrs Anupam Panwar, Regional President AWWA, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

‘Walk for Fun’, evoked a huge response from families and children of Army personnel stationed in Shillong. They came out in large numbers, braving the inclement weather, in their traditional and resplendent best. And there was plenty of fun, laughter, merry making and a large number of interesting prizes for the enthusiastic participants. The mammoth gathering looked every bit like an extended family and the renowned camaraderie and espirit-de-corp of the Army was in full display. The gala event also served to emphasise the role of physical fitness in enabling a full and stimulating life in these stressful times.

Army personnel, by nature of their varied roles and duties, operate continually in a high stress environment, be it war or peace. Wives of army personnel have an important role to play in diffusing the stress levels which thus get generated. Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) has this objective as one of its primary charters. Festivities and events will continue for a week. (SP News)
