Shillong, Feb 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party aimed at having an alliance with National People Party (NPP) and the United Democratic Party in forming the next government.
Stating the declaration, BJP organising Secretary North East, P.Chandrashekar said that the aim of the BJP to enter into an ‘internal alliance’ with NPP and ‘friendly alliance’ with the UDP is to out beat the congress in forming the government in Meghalaya.
Reacting to a query on BJP’s intention in forging an alliance with other party’s, P.Chandrashekar said, P.Chandrashekar. “We have adjustment with PA.Sangma’s party in Garo Hills.”
Further, Chandrashekhar also said that he expect NPP,UDP and BJP led government in Meghalaya even as the BJP expects to win 5 out of the 13 candidates contesting the elections.
When asked to elaborate more on the adjustment Chandrashekar said, “We have made an internal alliance with the NPP.”
Acknowledging the significance of the independent candidates role in forming a government, Chandrashekar said, “If we manage to pull 20 to 22 seats including both the party, we will take in independent candidates and form the government.”
Francis D’Souza , senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and deputy chief minister of Goa, however, said that the party expects five seats out of the total 13 constituencies BJP is contesting from.(SP News)
