Shillong, Dec 05: Base on specific information, BSF party deployed at Barsora in South West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya and Meghalaya Police conducted a joint operation and apprehended one active ANVC (B) cadre identified as Mithun M Sangma aged 27 years of Kuchiasora, of Borsora Outpost.
The apprehended ANVC (B) cadre confessed that he was entrusted the responsibility of collection of extortion money in Barsora and Lailat area. He has undergone Arm training for one month along with some other cadres somewhere in Balpakram forest in South Garo Hills in the month of January 2013. After putting up around 4 month in Garo Hills, he came to Barsora area and since then operating in different coalmines area of South West Khasi Hills district.
Besides above, during last week, BSF troops on Meghalaya border also seized 507 bottles of Liquor, 21 Nos Cattle heads, Forest produce and other contraband items of the estimated value Rs. 4,96,248/- (Four lacs ninety six thousand two hundred forty eight only), while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.
Apprehended persons and Seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further legal action.(SP News)
