Shillong, Nov 08: Border Security Force achieved a major success, when they foiled an infiltration bid and recovered huge catche of arms and ammunition from the India Bangladesh border in south Garo Hills of Meghalaya last night.
Acting on a specific input, troops of 132 Bn border Security Force laid a tactical ambush on the night intervening 07/08 Nov’ 2013 near the International Boundary (IB) of India Bangladesh border in the area of Border Outpost Faqirkona, in the Angratoli reserve forest in the South Garo Hills of the Meghalalya. At the stroke of midnight, BSF team observed some suspicious movement from the side of the Bangladesh. They further observed that some intruders crossed the IB and were infiltrating to the Indian side. As they entered in to India, the BSF party immediately challenged and asked them to surrender. The ambush party further chased them and tried to apprehend, however they could succeed in fleeing toward Bangladesh taking cover of pitched darkness, undulating ground and thick growth. During the search, the BSF party could seize two bags of the intruders which contained under mentioned items.
The ammunition ceased by the BSF included,Carbine machine gun 9 mm 0ne, 7.65 MM Pistol Petro Barreta made in Italy one, 7.65 MM Pistol,made in China one, Carbine 9 mm Magazine two, Pistol Magazine four, Wireless set with Signal Booster one 9 mm Carbine ammunition six.7.65 mm Pistol ammunition seven and many others items.
According to the input, this consignment was meant for the militant outfit operating inside Meghalaya. Seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal.(SP News)
