Shillong, Feb 16: Two Indian Liquor smugglers were apprehended by BSF troops of BOP Silbari in South Garo Hills distt of Meghalaya, while they were moving in a Tata 1109 vehicle bearing Regd No AS-OFC-2090 near Silbari on 15th Feb 2014. The apprehended persons were identified as Novo Kant Rabha (30 yrs), s/o Dhajan Rabha, r/o vill-Siliguri, PO-Dammalasos, PS-Boko, Dist–Kamrup (Assam) and Asharani Koch (30 yrs) w/o Anil Koch, r/o Vill-Gasuapara, PO&PS-Gasuapara, Distt-South Garo Hills (Meghalaya). During search, party recovered 486 Bottles of IMLF worth Rs. 75,600/- and Indian Currency Rs. 7,600/-.
During last week, BSF troops on Meghalaya border also seized one Tata Sumo, one Tata 1109, 710 Btls Liquor, 563 Btls Phensydel, 35 Nos Cattle heads and other contraband items worth over Rs. 24 Lacs while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.
Apprehended person and seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land.(SP News)
