The BSF organized on “ Cervical Cancer and Brest Cancer

BSF ShillongShillong, April 03: The Border Security Force today organized  a workshop-cum-health awareness programme on “Cervical Cancer and Breast Cancer” was organized by the Frontier HQr BSF Meghalaya, Composite Hospital BSF Shillong under aegis of BWWA (BSF Wives Welfare Association) Shillong.

Lecture on Cervical Cancer and Breast Cancer related ailments and its preventions was delivered by Dr Shailinia Syiem, Gynecologist, Composite Hospital BSF Shillong. Approx. 100 families of Officers, SO’s and other ranks of various BSF establishments in Shillong attended the lecture and were benefitted from above workshop. A clinical presentation regarding the Cervical and Breast Cancer, its symptoms, investigation and management was given. Emphasis was made on regular checkups for early detection so that management of ailment is done properly.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prema Gandhi, Acting President BWWA Shillong implored that females must have awareness about symptoms of Cervical and the breast cancer. She appraised the efforts made by Dr Shailinia Syiem and Composite Hospital Shillong in organizing this lecture which will definitely help in improving awareness about such ailments among females.

The objective of the workshop was to create awareness among BSF personnel’s wives about Cervical/Breast cancer, danger sign and symptoms, the screening and detection technique, stages of cancers and their treatment techniques.

It has always been the objective of BWWA to keep the BSF personnel and their families aware about the various ailments and their precautions to help them remain healthy.(SP News)
