Tura, July 19: The Chief Executive Members of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Mr Alphonse Sangma met the Garo Student Union (GSU) on Thursday to discuss with them about their demand, that Non-Tribal should ne allowed to vote or contest in the MDC Election.
The President of the Garo Student Union Mr Tengsak G Momin told SP News Agency that a delegation of six members from their side met the Chief Executive Members of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and discuss about their demand.
In the meeting the CEM of the GHADC apprised the GSU that they are very much aware about their demand and they have already taken up the issued with the District Council Affair government of Meghalaya for long time.
The CEM inform the GSU in the discussion that this time the Executive committee will bring in the form of a Bill in the coming session of the GHADC which will commence from 23 of this month. Mr Tengsak said that they have got the assurance from the CEM that the Bill will be introducing on the day when the session starts.
With the assurance from the CEM about their demand the GSU have kept in abeyance all their agitation programmed specially the public meeting which they have announced to beheld at Tura.(SP News)
