Shillong, Jan 23: To bring the ANVC Breakaway fraction under the ambit of the peace settlement, the central and the state Government has asked the outfit to furnish the details of its cadre strength and the ammunition that it possess.
Home department source said the message has been communicated to ANVC(B) leader Rimpu R Marak during the tripartite meeting held in Shillong.
The state government was represented home department principal secretary KS Kropha along with the Director General of Police (DGP) PJP Hanaman and the union government was represented by the Director for North East in the Ministry of Home Affairs JPN Singh.
According to a home ministry source the meeting also discussed about situation in garo hills after the peace agreement was signed and also ensured that a congenial climate is created before the final settlement is signed and executed.
The process of bringing peace in Garo hills started on January 5 last year even as the ANVC had signed a tri-partite Suspension of Operation agreement since 2004.
In the meeting, the officials from both center and state Government have cautioned both the outfit not create any atmosphere that could hinder the settlement but to bring in peace to the region.
Talking to media, Rimpu Marak informed that the ANVC(B) has over 130 cadres and that the list and the details of the cadres would be submitted to the concerned authorities.
He also about the deposition of arms inventory, the outfit would do according to the procedures under law.(SP News)
