The Chief Minister inaugurated the Multipurpose cultural complex at Williamnagar

 

Williamnagar Feb.19, 2014: The Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr.Mukul Sangma today inaugurated the Multipurpose Cultural Complex (District Auditorium), Williamnagar amidst a huge gathering. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Smti. D.C. Marak  Social Welfare Minister and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, the Chief Minister expressed his immense pleasure to associate himself with the people of the district on this auspicious day. He said that the Multipurpose Cultural Complex which is dedicated to the people of East Garo hills District will be an important asset especially for the youth of the district where it can also be a platform for them to showcase their talents and also for holding capacity building programmes for the youth. Dr.Sangma also said that there are numerous job opportunities in the State if the youth are well equipped with suitable knowledge and skills.

Mrs Deborah C. Marak, Minister for Social Welfare while speaking on the occasion the inauguration of the Multi purpose Cultural Complex at Williamnagar is a long cherished dream of the people and it will definitely be a boon to the youth of the District. She urges the people to maintain the complex and ensure that it is utilized for the well being of the people of the District in particular.

Among others who spoke on the occasion were Mrs M.War Nongbri, Director of Arts and Culture and Mr. Alphonse Sangma.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also released a Documentary film on “Achik Dama”. He also Distributed   100 Wangala Drums to the local Schools, Books on Garo literature and gave away the awards to the best Watershed Management Society bagged by the Rongkon watershed management Society.(SP News)
