Nongpoh, March 29: One of the well known Organisation of Ri Bhoi District, the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP) today wnet and close down the SBI Branch at Nongpoh for oppning the office on the good Friday.
The General Secretary of the organization speaking to SP News Agency Mr David Kharnaior said that the organization asked the branch manager to close down for today because it is a good friaday where the Christiains observed as one of the holiest day in the faith.
The financial institution should understand the sentiment of the people and they should respect it. The christains in India ar in minoritiy they just comprised only 2.2% of the Indian population and they have their right to observed this day in a very special way with the state government also declear this day as a state Holiday.
As the people of Ri Bhoi they repect the others faith, when they have their Holi, Pujas so the fincial institution should respect the sentiment of the Christian who observed this day as one of the important day in their chrsitian life.(SP News)
