Shillong , August 11: The Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) today has file the First Information Report (FIR) with the Pasture Beat House, Polo Shillong against Mr L Wanglat a member of the Shillong Golf Club for his alleged abusive language to one of the security guard at the Shillong Golf club whiles she was on duty.
The CSWO president Smti Agnes Kharshiing in her FIR state that “I have received information that on the 19 th July 2013, L Wanglat abused Stela Kharsyntiew, who was a woman security at the Shillong Golf Club, at about 5 am, and called her degradingly, “hey stupid come here”.
The CSWO said that this is a direct insult to the Women of the society, especially the Women of Meghalaya who are held in high esteem. “In my interaction with the women security of Shillong Golf Club, they have complained that they have been often discriminated, and scolded with degrading and abusive words like Bastard, stupid, Nonsense, Bullshit, Idiot, by this person, L Wanglat who is a member of the Shillong Golf Club, from July 2012 till 19 July 2013, and this is extremely degrading the women of our society who are trying to earn and make a living in a decent manner” said Smti Kharshiing .
On this incident the women security had earlier informed the director, of the Shillong Golf Club, but he had mentioned that Wanglat is an influential member of the Club and an ex Home Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, and if there were complaints , they may lose their job, so for fear of losing their jobs they kept quiet and suffered the abuse in silence.
The incident was also informed to the Minister health of the Government of Meghalaya Mr A L Hek on the 19 July 2013 by the women security of the Shillong Golf Club.
This is also an outrage to the modesty of a woman in their workplace, and cannot be tolerated by a civilized society and as an NGO working in the interest of women we find the act is highly condemnable and we urge that you kindly book the person as per law so that no other person can degrade and abuse a woman in her workplace.
