Shillong, May 29: The CSWO is concerned of the many police tortures leading to custodial deaths and this is clear Human Rights Violations. People are helpless in the hands of such criminalization in the police force and the CSWO is even getting feedback from the police itself that there are many who are disagreeing, to the methods of tortures, lies, manipulations, forgery to cover the lies, (this happened in the FIR copy of the Fullmoon case where the GD Entries numbers in all 3 FIR’s filed by police are different from the copies provided by the State Govt to the Jail Break Inquiry Commission, and this was pointed out to the commission but report comes out otherwise).
The CSWO is disturbed too, at the frequent arrests on suspicions which lead to maiming, and death of people who are picked up, who are to be considered innocent until it can be proved that one is guilty. If someone is accused of a crime, one should always have the right to defend oneself. Nobody has the right to punish someone for something one has not done.
The Police are given enough evidence, obtained through RTI, against scamsters of the State but this is not taken up seriously by the Police.They seem to enjoy punishing the helpless victims who are even scared to make complaints as some of these murderous killers in uniform do not know how to investigate but just use threats and torture to make the arrested person confess to crimes they may have not committed. They also threaten to pile more cases on those who complain, and this is done so in many cases.
In the case of Balsan Marak he was arrested and taken for medical from the 12th May 2014, as the CSWO was also informed of his detention on the 12th May 2014. The CSWO also informed some media persons about this.
In the case of Witson M Sangma, to say that the person died of hyper tension is an excuse they cook up to get away with murder. There is also strong collusion between some doctors and the police for providing manipulated reports.
The CSWO shall make appeals earnestly to the Hon’ble High Court to take Sou Moto these cases of Human Right abuse by men in uniform and to call for a time bound CBI inquiry, so that the Police force is cleaned up which shall really be in the interest of the people and not for certain Police or influential and powerful people, as the Rule of Law is equal for everyone.(SP News)
