Shillong, March 20: The South West Khasi Hills District Arts and Culture Society, supported by the Directorate of Arts and Culture, will host the “IONA” festival at Madan Risim, Nongumer village on March 22.
The objective of organising the festival is to promote the traditional culture and aesthetics of the region.
The gala event will commence with traditional dance to be performed by the Iong Lajong, Sengkhasi Nonglang, Kynhun and Nicole.
Besides, performances by top local bands Wild Tears, traditional songs, and folk dance of the Khasis, Garos and the Hajongs with special presentation from Ananda de-Capricon will add more colour to the Festival. There will also be skit performance by Sanriti Nongsiej, the finalist of Meghalaya Dancing Star and a memorable rendition of modern Khasi songs by Rana Kharkongor.(SP News) Biria u Maram including cultural item from the Garo and Hajong.
