Shillong, March 5:The Office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills, Shillong will conduct the National Pulse Polio Immunization Programme, 2014 all over the district. The goal of the Programme is to eradicate Poliomyelitis and to vaccinate all children under five years of age against Polio virus in the District in particular and the state as a whole. The Second round of the programme will be held on the 10th March 2014, 2014 from 9am – 4pm in the arranged booths throughout the District to be followed by the house to house search and coverage activity on the 11th – 12th March, 2014. All parents are therefore requested to bring their children below 5 (five) years of age to the arranged booths in their respective locality for vaccination. Headmen, NGOs, Church leaders etc. are also requested to join hands with the Department of Health & Family Welfare for the success of the programme, so that our children are protected from the wild polio virus & eliminate it from the surface of the earth.(SP News)
