Shillong, August 13: The Federation of Khasi State today commemorate the 65th years of signing the Instrument of Accession (IOA) between the Khasi King and the Government of India at the Khasi National Dorbar
Hall Mawkhar Shillong.
The signing of the IOA between the Khasi king and the Government of India started on the 17th August 1947 and today the FKS commemorate the 65th years of the Historical event, but the Khasi King has not sign the Instrument of Merger.
In the deliberation in this day all the speakers had speaking in one voice that the Government of India should speed up and to full fill the aspiration of the people by bringing the constitutional amendment to include the IOA in the constitution of India.
The twenty five Khasi king who sign the IOA since 1998 have tried their best to convince the government of India to accomplished the uncompleted task. This movement has taken up under the leadership of Mr John Khaeshiing.
The speakers in this day fill that the solution for this problem need a political solution where both the central and state government should work together, so that the microscopic khasi tribes will be protected under the constitution, relating to their custom and tradition practices.Many speaker, express that there is a constitutional anomalies which need to be rectified.
On this day the DO Letter written by the first prime minister of free India late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru written to the Khasi King was released today to the public on the commemoration of the 65th years of signing the IOA between the Government of India and the Khasi King. (SP news)
