The DPDC Meeting held to discuss on the over all development in Garo Hills

TURA, 28 Oct: The annual meeting of District Planning and Development Council (DPDC) was held here today at the Conference Hall, DRDA Building, Tura to discuss and approve the district plans for 2014-15.

Also present at the meeting was MLA, South Tura, John Leslee K Sangma who chaired the meeting. In his address, he reminded the officers of their responsibilities as heads of departments. He regretted that lack of focus and lethargy on the part of some officers have stagnated the developmental progress in Garo Hills. He appealed to all to leave behind footprints by ensuring visible development is brought about in the district. He also urged the officers to see that the money sanctioned for development is properly utilized without succumbing to the pressure of the politicians.

Earlier in his Welcome and Keynote Address, Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman (DPDC), West Garo Hills, Pravin Bakshi said that the DPDC meeting is very crucial as it sets the tone for development and planning for the next financial year. He informed that there has been a steady increase in the annual financial outlay over the last few years. This reflects better planning at various levels he added.

Later various departments presented Draft Annual Plan for 2014-2015 which was simultaneously discussed and approved by the council.(SP News)
