starting from 13 to 17 of this month. The block gate was call in protest against the step motherly attitude of the state government of Meghalaya by not repairing the National High Way-44 for long time.
The National High Way -44 is the mainraod conneting Barak Valley of Assam, Mizoram and Tripura with the rest of the country. The Villagers from time to time has sked the state government to repair the Road but the government has turn a deft ears to their request, they have no alternative but to called for the road blocked.
Headmen of the ten villages including Shymphlong, Donaskur, Dona-Umbluh, Lumsoski, Borsora, Umkiang, Ratacherra, Malidor, Kuliang and Dona Bhoi held a public meeting on Saturday at Umkiang and decided to called for the road blocked in oeder to make the government hear about their grievances. The Road condition of NH 44 from Lukha Bridge up to Malidor is in a deplorable condition.
The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movements (HANM), the Seng Samla Shnong, Umkiang and residents of that area who where attending the meeting give the support for the road road bockade.(SP News)
